Lynn's GJC - From The Members
My only prior experience of singing in a choir was when I was at secondary school. I would join in November to do the carol concert in December and get out of lessons to practice! I was introduced to Godalming Jazz Choir in the summer of 2014, when I attended a show at Charterhouse school. The flyer in my programme had already aroused my interest, and I was then lucky enough to win, in the raffle, a free term which felt as if fate was telling me I had to get off my backside

Lizzie's GJC - From the Members
Not long after I moved to Godalming I started going to yoga classes at Cafe Mila, and it was there that I saw the bright cheery leaflet with an invitation to a free taster session with the Godalming Jazz Choir. I emailed Phoebe who even from her first reply sounded bright and friendly and welcoming. I felt nervous joining this group where I didn’t know anyone, but Phoebe and all of the choir members welcomed me and it didn’t take long for me to feel at home in the Mila studio

Valentines Day at GJC
I'm not one for Valentines day (she says after reciveing a big beautiful bouqet of red roses today), but honestly singing with Godalming Jazz Choir couldn't be more appealing to me this Sunday. Why choose to be with only one person you love that evening, why not spend the evening with a whole group of people you really like, who you sing with regularly. You are stuck at home on a Sunday evening, there is nothing better than going to Cafe Mila and singing with a great bunch of

I’d been wanting to join a choir for quite a long time before I found GJC. I seemed to be avoiding joining formulaic choirs and classical choirs and didn’t really know what I was looking for. Then when I moved into the area I happened to see a poster for GJC. I think it was the word Jazz that got me interested. I was able just to show up and try without a fuss. I wasn’t put on the spot and they were such friendly folk. Phoebe just has that perfect way of making you feel invol

John's GJC - From The Members
I have been a singing student with Phoebe Gaydon who is Choir Director of the Godalming Jazz Choir for several years and was mildly interested when she said she had formed a choir in Godalming and invited me to join. It took several weeks before I decided that I could make room for another choir rehearsal, this time on a Sunday night. Not living in Godalming, finding our rehearsal room in the studio over the Café Mila, provided something of a challenge, but nothing compared
